The action of social revolution and the reaction of guarding against such revolution or combating it once it has begun are the causes of a great deal of the human misery with which history is permeated.

Isaac Asimov
About This Quote

The history of the world is filled with wars and violence that have been brought about by the actions of human beings. Social revolution has been a defining feature of human existence from the beginning to the present day. It might be easy to understand why social revolutions have occurred in the past, but it’s much harder to understand why they occur in the present. In ancient times, people had more freedom, less technology, and fewer rules, which meant that revolutions could happen more easily.

But today, human beings are subject to many more rules and social conventions. As a result, it’s much harder for humans to directly change their own society.
